» Celtic Clan Interview

The "Celtic" clan was born in 2004 and started with the Aliens vs. Predator 2 game. I can't remember the exact day; it must have been during the vacations before they released in the AvP movie to theatres. As you probably guessed, the name of the clan is based on the "Celtic" Predator from the AvP movie which I found "cool" actually.

This was mainly a French clan because our English was very bad at this time (I was young). The clan grew up until the end of 2004 with a total number of 24 members active on two servers. Later I had trouble with a virus which completely shut down my internet connection for about 6 months. I managed to fix my computer but by then it was too late. Almost every member went off and only a few (four or five) stayed in the clan. I still don't know what happened to the others.

During this long absence I had the chance to play more the SP campaigns and I tested the AvP2 toolkit which I found great so I started to designed maps, skins and mods. In 2005, after the launch of AJL Mod, the entire clan (about 10 members) decided to move on it for a better experience of the game, true to the original movies.

It was the "gold age" because I trained people with the toolkit which helped me to make maps and such works; the best was about to come when many mappers and modders called upon us to work together on a single project such as AJL Mod Release 3.0, Open Pyramid Project, etc. I also started to recruit internationally (USA, UK, PK, etc.).

The clan is currently "sleeping", waiting for something more which is AvP3. There are only a few of us now and I already know that many people from the clan won't return to AvP3 because of their professional activities.

About the Celtic clan now, it’s a multi species clan. We don't favor any specific species, everything is needed. All it needs is to be "open-minded" and "mature". There aren’t any strict rules and everything is due to respect and to be fair in game. The clan also tried to develop many other aspects out of the game such as enchantment with map-making, mod-making, etc. I take a lot of time and I have patience to teach to people all the necessary things so we can come up together with a unique project made by the clan.

How to become a recruit.
Well, first I want to let you know that I don't base my recruitment on skill. Everybody is accepted if he or she passed a ritual (that was on AvP2, I have no idea how it's going to be on AvP3 yet) as a Predator. The reason for this is that the Celtic is a Predator in the movie, otherwise that doesn't mean we are a predator clan, this is just to add a bit of roleplay and to see the way you play and what you can learn in the future. You have to enter inside a pyramid such as seen in the AvP movie and to find a way out from the other side. During your adventure, you cross a lot of Aliens who try to kill you. If the test is a success (I never met anybody who failed) and I, or an Elder of the clan, judge that you are able to join us you'll be approved.

How do the system ranks work?
We have 3 different rank in the clan which are the following:
-Hunter (lowest rank)
-Warrior (Middle)
-Elder

Each rank is subdivide by 3 sub-ranks which are noticed by a "+"
So to give you an example you can be:
Celtic Warrior "Name" ++
Or Celtic Elder "name" +++
It all depends on how much ritual you've pasts, your experience and your attitude.

About the tag I shall explain something, I don't force anybody to put all this "+" or either "warrior, elder blabla" story.
Celtic is all that is needed (and I'd rather want it natural than with some [Celtic] =Celtic= -(Celtic)- )
Usually member put their rank when they are "Elder" but the other previous are a bit pointless in the nickname itself.

About special ranks now:
There are 2 special ranks which are:
Arbitror (only one)
Leader (only one, currently Le Celticant.)

The Arbitror is some sort of right hand of the clan leader and he rules the entire clan with the leader. They are both equal in general and they consult each other about every important decision. Even if it's the Leader who has the last word, the Arbitror is a very important rank and very hard to reach.

Now about clan wars, much like many other clans, we do participate in some clan "wars". Only Warrior and higher ranks are allowed to go in war so as a hunter, you can't participate in a war but sometimes it happens. There are some exceptions made because one of the people who had to come didn't and there's a lack of members.

The Celtic clan does have a website which is under construction now. My apologies, I don't have a lot of time to work on it because I'm already busy with two websites and three forums at this time.
